Meta title best practices
✓ Keep it 50–60 characters
Google truncates titles longer than ~580px (roughly 60 characters). Shorter titles display in full — important for mobile SERPs.
✓ Put your target keyword near the start
Google gives more weight to words earlier in the title. Front-loading your keyword also helps users scan results faster.
✓ Include your brand name at the end
Pattern: [Keyword] | [Differentiator] — [Brand]. The brand name adds trust but shouldn't come before the keyword.
✓ Add a differentiator (price, USP, or benefit)
Free UK Shipping, 20% Off, or Best-Selling are all CTR signals that help your result stand out in a SERP full of similar titles.
✓ Avoid keyword stuffing
Repeating keywords or including multiple variations (gold earrings, gold hoop earrings, 14k gold earrings) in one title looks spammy and doesn't improve rankings.
✓ Make every title unique
Duplicate titles across products or pages split ranking signals and confuse Google about which page to rank for a given query.
