How it works
5 steps from connection to SEO impact
You install Sauron from the Shopify App Store. OAuth grant provides read/write access to your store's product, collection, and blog data.
An initial store scan runs, reading all product titles, descriptions, existing SEO fields, and collection data to baseline your current SEO state.
AI generation creates optimised title tags and meta descriptions for each product and collection, using your brand voice profile.
You review generated copy in Sauron's UI (or enable auto-publish for hands-free deployment). Approved changes are written back via Shopify Admin GraphQL's `productUpdate` and `collectionUpdate` mutations.
Schema markup is written to your products, collections and articles as metafields and rendered in the page head by a Shopify app embed block, and llms.txt is served from your own domain through an app proxy. No theme file is edited and no theme code access is required.

Shopify FAQ
What Shopify API access does Sauron need? +
Sauron requests access to read and write product SEO fields, collection descriptions, blog articles, and theme files. It does not access customer data, orders, or payment information. The full OAuth scope list is shown during installation.
Does Sauron work with Shopify Plus? +
Yes. Sauron works on all Shopify plans including Plus. Shopify Plus merchants with multiple storefronts need separate Sauron installations per store (multi-store management is on the roadmap).
Will Sauron break my existing theme? +
No. Sauron only modifies SEO metadata fields (title tag, meta description, alt text) and serves schema through a Shopify app embed block that reads metafields. It never edits your theme's files, and switching the embed off in the theme editor removes the schema cleanly. Your theme's visual design is never touched.
What happens if I uninstall Sauron? +
All SEO copy Sauron published to your products and collections remains in place: it's now part of your Shopify store data. The schema app embed stops rendering as soon as the app is removed, and no theme file needs cleaning up because none was ever edited.
